This was taken back in early April of this year. Some of you might remember the day when rune armor drops got screwed up. Majors in blue armors, superiors in majors, etc. You wouldn't get the ''new build is available'' which fixed it until you return to a town/outpost. I tried to salvage it to see what I might get but became materials instead. And yes, it is identified.

This one was found recently at Eternal Grove. No extra damage mod or anything.

EDIT By: Unlucky Slayer... Merged a couple threads of weird drops into this one and edited the title so now you can post your weird drops no matter the rarity of them. Enjoy.

Lol, I remember finding a Purple Butterfly Sword in Ascalon. When I identified it...um, there was nothing to identify.

I remember watching HoH in observors mode in gw some time ago and remembering the decayed orr armor item dropping from a chest...lol
I always wonderd if there was somthink special in it :P

Once time when I was farming Ettins, I got a very low damage gold sword.
I ided it and got me a 10/10 sundering.
Sold it for 90k at the time.

The runes that drop from the HoH are anything, I remember my friend getting some dwarven something-or-other rune from the chest and I had never heard of the unit that it belonged to.

Phantasmal Armors, Jade Gorgets, and Jade Pauldrons don't drop from anything but chests. Everything else drops as far as I know, even from obscure enemies like The Deserters.

I don't think there was any confusion as to whethere rare katanas existed or not? I remember a thread a while back asking and a couple people posted pics, I have one myself. It isn't unusual at all for a gold item to drop with no inherent mod.

My oddest is a pretty perfect staff.... if its mods weren't spread across 4 professions. Will post a pic later.

I got a phantasmal armor in HoH once... wondered what dropped them, but nobody in my group could answer... because nothing else apparently drops them :/

I once got a 14-21 Gold Butterfly sword req 12 with no mods or anything. The cool thing is that instead of being a cheap white i got extra gold when i merched it

That gold Katana does have a mod, A Fiery Mod.

FDS's will often have no additional mods other than their inherent feriy mod though (even in purple and gold form, they can have just fiery).

Golds don't necessarily have to have inherent mods. At least now they're guaranteed at least one upgrade or modifier.

Like I said, the only "weird" one is the Feiry Dragon Sword, where the only mod it "needs" to fit the rule is the fiery mod thats already named before you ID it. So it is quite possible and common to get colored ones that appear to have no mod when you ID them, because it counts the feiry mod.

Which is precisely why it was gold rather than blue or purple. It's incredibly rare for the mobs in that area to drop an item with those stats. It could just as easily had a pruning mod on it (if it wasn't a wand) and so long as it had the +15%, max increase casting speed, it would have been a gold item.
